Ffermio, S4C
A herd of white Ancient Cattle of Wales (with the occasional calf in other colours) appeared on S4C’s “Ffermio” (Farming) programme on the 11th May. The Woodland Trust in Wales is using them to help with land management at the Trust’s Brynau Farm, near Neath. In splendid sunshine, the animals were seen at work undertaking conservation grazing for the benefit of several rare species of wildlife. Llinos Humphreys of the Woodland Trust talked about the importance of the cattle not only for their role in conservation and Wales’s heritage, but as part of the farm business.
You can watch the programme here until about the end of September, beginning at 14:50 minutes (straight after the advert break). English and Welsh subtitles are available. More about Brynau Farm is available here.
Troi’r Tir, BBC Radio Cymru
In addition, listeners of BBC Radio Cymru had a second chance to hear the special “Troi’r Tir” programme about cows, first broadcast in February. This began with an interview with Teifi Davies about his ACW cattle. The programme is available here until about the middle of June.
