Earlier this year, Ancient Cattle of Wales were honoured to be the first subject of an occasional series of “Welsh icons” in Welsh Country magazine.
The article, which was published in May, includes the history, cultural significance and accepted colours of the breed. Crucially, it also reminds readers that the cattle are not just a hobby but have an important role to play in environmental and conservation work – and also produce tender, well-flavoured meat.
Welsh Country is an online magazine (formerly printed) that covers a range of subjects including Welsh villages, history, wildlife, walking and gardening.
