BBC Radio Cymru’s regular agricultural programme, Troi’r Tir, consisted of a special on cows on Sunday, 22nd February – and it began with Ancient Cattle of Wales. Society member and ACW farmer, Teifi Davies, described how he and his wife, Jenny (ACW’s joint secretary, came to keep ACW cattle, a little about the Society’s history and recent developments. He highlighted the need for more pedigree animals and for ACW farmers to register their animals. Teifi finished by explaining how important the cattle are for providing good quality meat and as part of our heritage in Wales.
The programme continued by looking at other aspects of cattle keeping, including the wider food chain, adding value to milk through selling it from a vending machine, and the use of beef tallow in cream for skin conditions.
The programme is available (in Welsh) here until 22nd March.
